Mary May ft. GUTS $10 (Reggae/Soul/Hip-Hop)

Saturday January 13
10 PM

Mary May is a french singersongwriter who performs her own music all around Europe, either with her band or solo with just her guitar. She has a captivating stage presence and adynamic voice which, in combination with her highly emotional songs, never fails to deeply move an audience. Whether it's 20 people or 20 thousand she will sing from her heart and hold the crowd in her hand. Influenced by artists like Lauryn Hill, Radiohead, Björk, and more traditional Reggae, Soul, and Afro-cuban rhythms, she effortlessly mixes hereclectic influences with her congolese roots, to create a unique and personal canvas on which to paint her stories from the perspective of an African girl born and raised in Paris. She also performs as one of the lead vocalists with the famous French hip hop / funk producers Guts, and Asagaya, touring extensively through Europe, and performing at many big festivals including the Dour (Belgium), the Shambala (U.K) and the Fusion (Germany).

This year she was invited to open for the king of the jazz vibraphone and living legend Roy Ayers and also Harrisson Stafford, the singer of the mythic reggae band Groundation. She also features on the most recent EP by Guts which has received glowing reviews in France and been on high rotation on French radio. She hopes to have her own EP finished by the end of this year in time for her Australian/NZ tour
